We welcome motivated students and researchers interested in synthetic biology, metabolic engineering, genomics, and microbiology. Our work sits at the interface of chemical engineering and biology, and we value both wet-lab and computational skills.
Prospective PhD and MS students
Apply through the WPI Chemical Engineering graduate program. After submitting your application, feel free to reach out by email with your CV and a brief note about your interests.
What to include in your email:
- 2–3 sentences on why you're interested in the Young Lab specifically
- Relevant experience (wet lab, computation, genomics, fermentation, etc.)
- Your timeline and availability
Undergraduate researchers
WPI undergraduates interested in working in the lab are encouraged to email Prof. Young directly. Please include your interests, relevant coursework or experience, and your résumé.
Postdoctoral researchers
Please email a CV and a brief research statement describing how your interests align with our ongoing work. Candidates with backgrounds in metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, microbial genomics, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
Collaborators and visiting scholars
We are open to collaborations with academic and industry partners. Send a short note describing the project idea and any relevant timelines.
